Our approach
First, we find satiety.
A weight-inclusive, anti-diet, evidence-based way of working — built on respect, curiosity, and the belief that you are the expert on your own life.

The Satiety idea
Between scarcity and abundance, there is a quiet middle.
Scarcity says: control everything. Abundance says: nothing matters. Satiety says: you're allowed to be nourished, and you're allowed to be at peace. We work in that middle space, every session.
What we believe
Five things that shape every session.
Weight is not the goal.
Health is measured in energy, labs, sleep, mood, blood sugar, and how you actually live — not pounds. The science is clear: pursuing weight loss as the primary goal usually backfires. Pursuing health works.
Food is not the enemy.
There are no good foods, bad foods, or moral wins for eating broccoli. We help you build a relationship with food that's curious, flexible, and steady — even with diabetes, even with high cholesterol.
Your culture belongs.
Saskatchewan is diverse. We build care around your food traditions, not against them. Faith-respectful too.
Evidence over hype.
Registered Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals regulated by law in Saskatchewan. Everything we recommend is grounded in current, peer-reviewed evidence — not the wellness algorithm.
Small, livable shifts.
We don't do plans you can't keep. We make tiny, intentional changes that compound — the kind that still fit your life six months from now.
What sessions look like
A calm, conversational space.
01
1. We listen.
Your story, your medical picture, your goals, your relationship with food. No rushed intake forms doing the work for us.
02
2. We translate the evidence.
What the research actually says about your condition — plainly, without scare tactics or magic-bullet promises.
03
3. We co-design what's next.
A tiny, livable step. Sometimes that's a kitchen change. Sometimes it's nothing about food at all. Always something you choose.
The science
Our Scientific Approach to Metabolism — The Carbohydrate-Insulin Model vs. Calories In, Calories Out

For decades, conventional nutrition advice has treated the human body like a simple, robotic calculator. We've been told that managing health, energy, and weight is nothing more than the Energy Balance Model — the classic math of "calories in versus calories out." If you just have enough willpower to eat less and move more, the math should work.
But you are a human being, not a calculator, and your metabolism is an intricate biological system, not a math problem.
At Dietitian in Motion, our practice functions using the Carbohydrate-Insulin Model of metabolism.
Instead of focusing on the sheer volume of energy (calories) you consume, this evidence-based model focuses on how different foods affect your hormones — specifically insulin, your body's primary energy-storage hormone.
When we eat in a way that constantly spikes insulin, it shifts our biology into a state of cellular scarcity. High insulin signals the body to lock energy away in storage, leaving less fuel circulating in the bloodstream to power your brain, muscles, and organs. Your cells perceive this lack of circulating energy as starvation. As a direct result, your brain naturally signals you to slow down your energy output (making you feel exhausted and sluggish) and triggers intense cravings to eat more.
Under the old model, feeling fatigued and having cravings are blamed on a lack of willpower. Under the Carbohydrate-Insulin Model, we recognize them for what they truly are: a natural, protective biological response to cellular starvation.
How this changes your care: By shifting away from restrictive calorie counting, we focus entirely on the quality and rhythm of your nutrition. We work together to balance your unique insulin and hormonal responses by choosing foods that nourish your cells and keep your energy steady.
When you focus on working with your hormones rather than fighting your hunger, the biological panic subsides. Your body finally feels safe, your energy returns, cravings naturally stabilize, and you can comfortably settle into that healthy, peaceful sweet spot of true satiety.
